Memorial Weekend, Masters style

I came into the race today really hoping for better form than I've had recently, that being said, I think its coming back.  Andy Daley and I brought the Madone's to the line against 50 odd "30+ 123) Masters monsters.  A pretty stacked field with a few multi-time National Champions and quite a few guys I've never seen.  The first 20 minutes were pretty routine, attack, attack, etc.  Then a 10 man chunk of clean shaven men broke off the front of the race with most teams represented, except VWTB.  At the point I got a good look, they had established about a 20 second gap.  Andy led an attempt to join the pointy part of the race and I held his wheel for dear life as did my friend Steve VanDeven from GaG.  Then Andy looked back at me as if to say "I can't do this alone!".  I looked back at nobody, then pulled my self inside out and through to do my share.  2 laps later the 3 of us caught the break.  That was really hard!  Steve had a guy up the road, he was no help.  As it should be.

We then began a fairlly well orchestrated rotation to actually keep away.  There was this fellow in the break with a really big potty mouth and an obvious dislike for other bike racers and everything else maybe.  Apparently his massive success on a bike gives him the right to yell at the other children in the break and call them names!  Oh, and btw, if you are really only contributing verbally to the break, to only sit back for the sprint, then maybe you are not as cool as you think you are!  Pretty funny, really.  Other than that, it was a good group of guys to be in a break with.  With one to go, the insanely strong C. Priebe from Mack put all chips on the table and made a solo mad dash and it paid off for the V.  Well done man, you earned it.

I had a TON of fun today!  Awesome team work, a box of gels from a prime, and some great weather.  Looking forward to the next 2 days...
