Burnham Racing is an amateur cycling program that exists based upon those two ideas. Based in Chicago and founded in 2005, Burnham Racing enters its 10th-anniversary season as a team known for its impact both on and off the race course. Our culture is one of sportsmanship and the idea that we need to not only preserve our sport, but improve it for the sake of our peers and those who will follow us.

With a roster that has never exceeded 20 athletes, the team has made its mark in the Midwest with standout results, including over a half-dozen state road titles, multiple Illinois Cup team and individual honors as well as an impact on the thriving Midwest cyclocross scene. We’re more than just riders, however. The Burnham Racing program has positively influenced the local community by hosting and co-hosting the Spring Super Criterium, the annual Illinois season opener, which helps break new comptitors into the sport. The team’s Bike Marshal initiative has evolved from a half-dozen riders at a 2008 running event into the World Bicycle Relief Course Marshals, a group of nearly 30 volunteers who guide adaptive athletes and elite runners at the Bank of America Chicago Marathon and Shamrock Shuffles. The bike marshal opportunities have put the team in front of millions of spectators, but also allowed us to contribute several thousand dollars to World Bicycle Relief.

Our athletes are committed ambassadors of the sport, our program and our sponsor family. The roster focuses on Masters and Category 2/3 events. Burnham membership applications are considered in the fall. Burnham Racing will be backed in 2015 by Chicago’s Eldorado Trading and Advantage Futures and by Velosmith Bicycle Studio, Colnago,, Universal Sole and Mad Alchemy.
